In class, we learned that the noun progress was defined by the Greeks as “to stride towards something”. I.e to make a huge stride towards making peace, and so on…

But have we made progress? Are we making progress if we are playing with the same letters, only rearranging them differently? So much of what is posted is on social media is designed to generate a positive or adoring response to what is almost an idealized version of what is essentially a banal event.

Progress is here, but we have been inflamed. The inflammation of pre-existing human conditions; Narcissism, selfishness.
