The full moon kept us swaying, vibrating –
all throughout that night. The tidal pull unto the magnificent ocean,
stringing our movements along…
And in the morning, the sea of stars, amidst FKJ’s jazz number,
fading elegantly, stylishly –
each a divine blinking beacon of hope. Each star
distanced by millions of years,
as is our love.
Across the ocean –
I see your love undulate in all of its grace,
wildly,
freely,
with passion,
the melody of the sway
the same one curled safely inside my chest.
We believed so arrogantly that our fate was drawn amongst the constellation
pierced deeply with a pencil, as if by an angry child –
but the spaces in between proved impossible to connect.
We witness planets curve around each other…
seemingly intertwined,
but seperated in truth –
we may as well exist as they do, patiently curving around each other until
we no longer possess faith in it all.
The dolphins took me away,
nestling me in safety within their pod
the evening will never find me
as we raced on, fearing that the waves will continue rising
the evening will never find me –
as I spiral with the dolphins
willing the moon to not lose control
of the tide. I’ve tucked the constellation safely inside my eyes,
lest I forget its sublimity,
and now, though the stars are out our feet –
our story will forever be lost at sea.
